At about 15 Km you find the Etruscan Populonia, a picturesque village with an imposing fortress and a medieval tower on the top of a low hill dominating the sea. From the top you will admire remains of the old town discovered by the archaeologist; in the valley you will find the Etruscan tombs, clustered around the beautiful Gulf of Baratti, a wonderful beach bordered by pine wood. A true paradise for incontaminate nature lovers. The Archaeological Park of Baratti and Populonia includes all this.
Between San Vincenzo and the Gulf of Baratti you will find the Coastal Park of Rimigliano, 150 hectares of white sand and Mediterranean bush shaped by sea wind. The Park is rich of holm – oaks and, with a shadowy pine-wood, it forms a green strip dominating the sea.,
Then there is the Coastal Park of Sterpaia, a rare moist forest, a typical coastal landscape of the High Maremma. It’s a charming spot where to be lost with its secular oaks and, small animals. Then, in one moment, beyond the sandy dunes, you find yourself in front of the sea. The Park is located in the large gulf between Piombino and Follonica
The Thermal Spring of Caldana and Calidario are located in Venturina, just 5 Km away, while the little village of Sassetta e Suvereto are few Km inland. A little bit farther away you can find the “Art Town” of Massa Marittima, Siena, Volterra, San Gimignano and Florence, all easily reachable by car. Piombino, the port for Elba Island, is only 20 minutes distant, and gives you the possibility to visit that happy land. Then the north side, you will find Bolgheri, a village well known all around the world for the excellence of its wines.
